Criminals explode bomb outside residence of former minister, demand Rs 1.2 cr from him

Bagaha: A gang of notorious criminals of West Champaran exploded a powerful bomb ouside Jaiprakash Nagar, Bettiah, residence of former minister Baidyanath Mahto early Friday morning and left a leaflet demanding Rs 1.2 crore from the JD(U) leader.  Mahto is a former JD(U) MP from Valmikinagar parliamentary constituency. The criminals have threatened to kill Mahto anywhere if he does not pay the extortion amount of Rs 1.2 crore to them.

Champaran range DIG Gopal Prasad, who visited the place of occurrence, said that police have constituted a special team to arrest the criminals. Sources said it was the second occasion that the gang has targetted any big  JD (U) leader. Earlier, the criminals had  exploded a bomb ouside the Bettiah residence of famous doctor and West Champaran district JD(U) president Dr N N Shahu and demanded rangdari of Rs 30 lakh from hima few weeks back.
