Contract teachers, JAP activists take out procession at Ara

Ara : Hundreds of activists of the Jan Adhikar Party (Loktantrik) and contract teachers under the banner of Bihar State Primary Teaches’ Association on January 6, 2018, took out a procession from Ara Ramana Maidan that passed through the main thoroughfares of the town and culminated at the gate of the office of  Bhojpur DM. They later staged gherao of the DM office and raised slogans against CM Nitish Kumar for not addressing the problem facing the contract teachers in the state.

The contract teachers resorted to agitation to press their charter of demands  includng introduction of education and medicare system like other regular teachers, regularization of services of employees appointed on contract basis, implementation of order of Patna High court regarding equal pay for equal work.

The JAP activists were also demanding free sale of sand and  stonechips, check on police atrocities against on the dalits, thorough inquiry into all the scams, payment of arrears to the contract teachers and others. Later, a five member delegation met the DM and handed him over their memorandum.
