Patna : Patnanaites woke up to a dense foggy morning on December 31, 2017, but witnessed bright sunshine after 1 pm. The residents of Patna and Gaya are likely to witness a foggy and experience a cold new year’s day on January 1, 2018.  The lowest minimum temperature of 7.8 degree C was recorded at Sabour in Bhagalpur district in Bihar.

According to Met office sources, Patna and Gaya may witness very dense fog from December 31 midnight to morning hours on January 1.

There was Cold day condition in both Patna and Gaya on December 31 with minimum temperature plummeting to 8.7 degrees Celsius. Patna recorded minimum temperature of 8.7 degree C and the maximum temperature of 16.1 degree C, 6.2 degree below the normal temperature.

Gaya recorded minimum temperature of 8.7 degree C and a maximum of 18 degree C which is 5 degrees below its normal maximum temperature. Bhagalpur and Purnia recorded minimum temperature of 8.6 and 10.8 degree C respectively.
Cold day condition is declared when the minimum temperature is 10 degree C or below and the maximum temperature registers 4.5 to 6.4 degree C below the normal (max) temperature, according to Met sources.
