Patna: The chief minister and JD(U) president Nitish Kumar on Tuesday directed the party leaders holding offices in boards and corporations to resign to facilitate reconstitution of these institutions. The decision was conveyed to the party leaders holding government offices after a meeting held by party president at his 7,Circular Road bungalow here.
A senior leader, who attended the meeting, said the decision has been taken to facilitate accommodation of represemtatives of RJD and Congress as they too are constituents of the Grand Alliance government.

At present only JD(U) leaders are chairmen, vice-chairmen or members of different public sector undertakings, commissions and boards in the state. Till 2013, some BJP nominees were also holding such offices when BJP was in the JD(U) led governmnt.

There are 49 corporations, commissions and boards in the state. The 20-point programme implementation committees at state and districts level will also be reconstituted, party leaders said. Leaders of the JD(U), RJD and Congress would meet soon to finalise names to head these commissions , corporations and boards. Chairmen of such corporations enjoy the status of cabinet ministers and their deputies of ministers of state. Members of the state citizens council, which also be will be reorganised, enjoyed the perks and facilities given to deputy ministers and the chairman was given cabinet minister rank facility.
