Patna : World No 12 Borna Coric, 22, Croatia, World No 15 David Goffin, 28, Belgium, World No 27 Lucas Pouille, 25, France, and World No 61 Feliciano Lopez, 37, Spain, entered the 2nd round of US Open at New York City, New York, USA, on August 27, 2019. But, World No 69 Pablo Carreno Busta, 28, Spain, upsrt World No 20 Guido Pella, 29, Argentina, in the first round.

Coric, the 12th seed, beat  World No 122 Evgeny Donskoy, 29, Russia, 7-6, 6-3, 6-0 in first round. Both the players fired 9 Aces each in the match. Coric though won 4 break points to none by Donskoy. Coric also won 9 games in a row in the match.

Goffin defeated World No 82 Corentin Moutet, 20, France, in four-sets 6-3, 3-6, 6-4, 6-0 to enter the 2nd round. Goffin won 8 break points in the match to 4 by Moutet. Moutet though committed 10 double faults to 6 by the Belgian. Goffin also served 4 Aces in the match. He won 8 games in a row in the match to 3 by Moutet.

Pouille beat Philipp Kohlschreiber, 35, Germany, in four-sets 6-3, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 to advance to the 2nd round. Pouille fired 16 Aces in the match to 10 by Kohlschreiber. Both the players committed 5 double faults each. Pouille won 5 break points to 3  by the German. Both the players won 3 games each in a row in the match.

Feliciano Lopez upset World No 28 Taylor Fritz, 21, USA, beating him 3-6, 6-4, 6-3, 6-4 in the first round. Lopez hammered 22 Aces in the match to 12 by Fritz. The Spaniard won 3 break points to 1 by Fritz. Both the players won 3 games each in a row. Lopez committed 5 double faults to 4 by his opponent.

Busta upset Pella beating him 6-3, 4-6, 7-6, 6-3 in first round. Busta won 6 break points to 3 by Pella. Busta served 4 Aces in the match to 5 by the Argentine. The Spaniard won 5 games in a row to 3 by Pella. The Spaniard won 84 service points to 81 by Pella.

World No 78 Grigor Dimitrov, 28, Bulgaria, a former Top 10 player, beat World No 77  Andreas Seppi, 35, Italy, 6-1, 6-7, 6-4, 6-3 to enter the 2nd round. Dimitrov fired 13 Aces in the match to 5 by Seppi. The Bulgarian won 7 break points in the match to 3 by the Italian. Both the players won 3 games each in a row in the match.
