Patna : Reigning World Champion and World No 5 P V Sindhu, 24, India, suffered shock defeat at the hand of World No 15 Pornpawee Chochuwong, 21, Thailand, in second round to crash out of Victor China Open, an HSBC BWF World Tour Super 1,000 Badminton tournament,  at Changzhou, China, on September 19, 2019.

Chochuwong stunned Sindhu, the 5th seed, in a three-game thriller 12-21, 21-13, 21-19 in 58 minutes coming from behind in second round to enter the quarter-finals of the tournament. Chochuwong won 54 rallies in the match to 53 by Sindhu indicating a tough between the two players. Chochuwong won 6 consecutive points to 8 by Sindhu. Sindhu, however, still leads Chchuwong 3-1 Head to Head.

Reigning Olympic Champion and three-time former World Champion Carolina Marin, 26, Spain, beat World No 11 Beiwen Zhang, 29, USA, 21-17, 21-12 in 36 minutes in 2nd round to enter the QFs. World No 24 Carolina Marin won 42 rallies in the match to 29 by Zhang. She won 5 consecutive points in the match to 7 by Zhang. Carolina now leads Zhang 3-2 Head to Head.

Second seed Tai Tzu Ying, 25, Taiwan, the World No 4, beat World No 26 Aya Ohori, Japan,  21-19, 21-14 in 36 minutes in 2nd round to enter the QFs. Tai won 42 rallies in the match to 33 by Ohori. She won 6 consecutive points to 3 by Ohori. Tai now leads Ohori 6-0 Head to Head.

World No 2 and All England Open Champion Chen Yu Fei, 21, China, the 3rd seed, beat World No 22 AN Se Young, South Korea, in a three-game thriller 20-22, 21-17, 21-15 in 71 minutes in 2nd round to enter the QFs. Chen Yu Fei won 62 rallies in the match to 54 by Young. She won 7 consecutive points to 5 by Young. Chen now leads Young 3-0 Head to Head.
