Chhotubhai Basava made acting President of Sharad faction of JD(U)

Patna : The Sharad Yadav faction of JD(U) faction has appointed six time Gujarat MLA Chhotubhai Vasava as its acting president and formed a disciplinary committee to decide on action against Bihar CM Nitish Kumar.

Vasava, who was appointed to the post on September 17, 2017,  had voted for Congress candidate Ahmad Patel in Gujarat Rajya Sabha polls recently defying the party directive. Patel romped home due to his crucial vote. The Sharad Yadav faction will soon approach the EC soon to stake its claim over the party’s election symbol.

The Election Commission, it may be recalled, had on September 12, 2017, refused to take cognizance of the Sharad Yadav faction’s claim of being the real JD(U) on the ground of lack of documents to back its claim. The JD(U), on the other hand, has sought disqualification of Sharad Yadav from Rajya Sabha under Anti- defection Law. Sharad’s Rajya Sabha tenure term expires in 2022.
