Patna : World No 6 in Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings Chen Yufei, China, stunned World No 3 P V Sindhu, 23, India, in the quarterfinals of China Open at Changzhou, China, on September 21, 2018. Yufei beat Sindhu in a three-set thriller 21-11, 11-21, 21-15 in 52 minute to enter the women’s singles semi-finals of the event.
World No 8 and 2017 World Champion Nozomi Okuhara, Japan, beat World No 21 Gregoria Mariska Tunjung, Indonesia, in a three-set encounter 21-15, 19-21,21-12 in 55 minute to enter the SF of the tournament.
Thrice World Champion and reigning Olympic Champion Carolina Marine, Spain, beat World No 13 Gao Fangjie, China, 21-10, 24-22 in 40 minute to enter the semi-finals. World No 2 Akane Yamaguchi, Japan, also entered the semi-finals defeating World No 7 HE Bingjiao, China, 21-19, 21-16 in 36 minute in the quarterfinals.
