Patna : India thumped Bangladesh by 7 wickets in their Asia Cup ODI match at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai, riding on a brilliant unbeaten 83 by captain and opener Rohit Sharma with 5 fours and 3 sixes and 40 with 4 fours and a six by his opening partner Shikhar Dhawan. Rohit and Dhawan were involved in a 61 run partnership for the first wicket. Rohit, the hitman, hit Shakib Al Hasan for three sixes.

India attained the 174 run target in 36.2 overs losing just 3 wickets. India had won the toss but opted to bowl.

Rohit was also involved in a 45 run partnership with Ambati Rayudu (13) for the second wicket. Rohit and wicketkeeper M S Dhoni were then involved in a 64 run partnership for the third wicket. Dhoni scored 33 in 37 ball with 3 fours.

Batting first, Bangladesh were all out for 173 run in 49.1 over riding on 42 with 2 fours and 2 sixes by allrounder Mehidy Hasan Miraj and 26 with 2 sixes by captain Mashrafe Mortaza. Mahmudulah made 25 with 3 fours.

For India, spinner Ravindra Jadeja took 4/29. Bhuvaneshwar Kumar took 3/32 while Jasprit Bumrah took 3/37.
