Patna / Muzaffarpur : The CBI on August 17, 2018, conducted raids at the residence of former Social Welfare Minister, Bihar Government, Manju Verma, at Patna and Begusarai in connection with sexual exploitation of 34 inmates of Muzaffarpur Balika Grih, a shelter home for women. The CBI conducted raids at 12 places on August 17 in this connection.

Manu Verma had resigned from her post on August 8, 2018, after reports of her husband Chandeshwar Verma allegedly visiting the shelter home was raised by the wife one of the official arrested in the case. The CBI sleuths also quizzed Manju Verma.

The CBI also conducted raids the residence of some of the relatives of arrested director of the shelter home Brajesh Thakur. The agency also conducted raid at Thakur’s Muzaffarpur hotel and house.
