Buxar police arrest two persons in double murder case

Buxar : Police on November 14, 2019, arrested two persons : Gunjan Giri and Mehandi Hasan, from Mishrawalia under Buxar Muffasil police station in Buxar District in connection with a double murder case and also seized a pistol and five life cartridges from their possession.

Buxar SP Upendra Nath Verma said that some miscreants had shot dead Satyendra Singh, son of Vijay Narayan Singh of Chandu Dihara under Itadhi police station on July 19, 2019, and later they also killed a night watchman Prithvi Singh, cousin  of the deceased. Land dispute was said to be the cause behind the double murder. He said that under mounting police pressure, two of the miscreants had already surrendered and were sent to jail but a named accused Gunjan Giri of Bhikhampur was absconding.

The SP said that he got information that Gunjan Giri and a liquor mafia Mehandi Hasan of Koirpurawa under Buxar Town police station had taken shelter at a house at Mishrawalia under Buxar Muffasil police station. Police immediately swung into action and conducted raids at Mishrawalia and arrested Gunjan Giri and  Mehandi Hasan.

The SP said that Gunjan Giri had criminal antecedents and at least half a dozen cases of murder and other crimes were lodged against him with Itadhi, Buxar Muffasil, and Buxar Town police stations. Mehandi Hasan was initially a liquor smuggler and also indulged in arms smuggling. The SP said that Mehandi Hasan got  involved in the double murders along with Gunjan Giri.  He said that Mehandi Hasan was also wanted in firing on police and escaping from the court campus. The SP said both the miscreants were sent to jail after interrogation.
