Patna : Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, Speaker, Bihar legislative assembly Vijay Kumar Chaudhury, Chairman, Bihar legislative council Awadhes Narain Singh, cabient colleagues of Nitish attended the Chuda-Dahi party hosted by RJD president Lalu Prasad at his residence. Lalu’s two sons : Tejeshwi Yadav and Tejpratap Yadav, both colleagues of Nitish, and Lalu’s wife and former Bihar CM Rabri Devi, played hosts to the visitors.
Congress leaders led by Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee president and education minister Ashok Chaudhury, and state RJD president Ramchandra Purvey were also present at the lunch. However, no BJP leader came though Lalu claimed he had invited them. Over 10,000 people mostly party workers from all over the state joined the lunch, which is an annual event at Lalu’s house.
BJP’s national secretary Rajnish Kumar hosted a similar party at his Bailey Road residence. It was joined by senior party leaders including former deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi.
BJP has accepted the invitation to participate in the lunch to be hosted by Bihar JD (U) president Bashistha Narain Singh on January 15 at his residence. BJP has been invited after a gap of three years after the JD(U) split from NDA in 2013. Ashok Chaudhury said he would not join JD(U) lunch and regretted invitation to BJP.
Meanwhile, Union minister and Rahstriya Lok Samata Party (RLSP) chief Upendra Kushwaha has criticised BJP’s decision to accept JD(U)’s invitation for lunch saying the party should not forget the fact that CM Nitish Kumar had in June 2013 cancelled the dinner thrown to the BJP national executive members.
