Patna : Mahavir Cancer Sansthan (MCS) in association with UNICEF, Bihar, will organise a national symposium on Environment and Health on January 16, 2017. The theme of the symposium is Environmental degradation and its impact on children and Women Health”.

The chief guest of the symposium will be Shivendra Nath Pandeya, Prgramme Manager, Unicef, State Office, Bihar, while the guest of honour will be is Prof. Sunil Saran, Chancellor,  Amity University, Madhya Pradesh, Gwalior. Eminent scientists from Delhi, Pune, Kolkata, Haryana, Mumbai and Ladakh (J&K) will be addressing the symposium.

Dr. Kumar Prabhash, HoD& Consultant Medical Oncologist, TMH, Mumbai, will be speaking on `Environmental Pollution and Lung Cancer’. Dr. Sneha Limaye, Scientist from Chest Research Foundation, Pune, will be speaking on `Impact of indoor air pollution on maternal and child lung health’. Dr. Kunal Kanti Mazumdar, Professor of Community Medicine, KP Medical College and Hospital, Kolkata, will be speaking on  `Arsenic poisoning and emerging public Health problem’. Dr. Vijay Kumar Bharti, DRDO Scientist from Leh, Ladakh, Jammu& Kashmir, will be speaking on `Fluoride toxicity and co-contaminants’.

More than 450 delegates from different institutions and Universities of Bihar and other states will be participating in the aforementioned symposium. The scientific deliberations and suggestions will be shared with different governmental and non- governmental agencies associated with environment and health. A poster competition on the theme of the symposium has been also organized in which 3 best posters selected by a panel of judges will be awarded.
