Patna : World No 7 in Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings HE Bingjiao, 21, China, beat World No 2 P V Sindhu, 23, India, after October 26, 2018, midnight, to enter the semi-finals of French Open badminton tournament, a BWF world tour Super 750 event, at Paris, France.

Bingjiao beat Sindhu 21-13, 21-16 in 40 minutes in the quarter-finals of French Open. Bingjiao won 9 consecutive points in the match to 4 by Sindhu. She also won 42 rallies to 29 by Sindhu. Bingjiao now leads Sindhu 7-5 head to head. Sindhu had lost in the first round of BWF Denmark Open recently.

World No 5 Chen Yufei, China, beat World N0 8 Ratchanok Intanon, Thailand, 16-21, 21-16, 21-13 in 62 minutes in the quarter-finals to reach the semi-finals of the event.

World No 3 Akane Yamaguchi, Japan, also entered the semi-finals after her quarter-final opponent and World No 16 Gregoria Mariska Tunjung, 19, Indonesia, retired due to injury in the second game trailing 6-11. Yamaguchi had won the first game 21-15 and was leading 11-6 in the second. Yamaguchi will clash with Bingjiao in the semi-finals on October 27, 2018. World No 1 Tai Tzu Ying, 24, Taiwan, will play Chen Yufei in the other semi-final. Ying had defeated World No 9 Saina Nehwal, India, in the quarter-finals on October 26, 2018.
