Patna : World No 8 in ATP rankings Kevin Anderson, 32, South Africa, and World No 11 Kei Nishikori, 28, Japan, entered the semi-finals of  Vienna Open tennis tournament, an ATP 500 points event, at Vienna, Austria, on October 26, 2018.

Nishikori beat World No 7 Domic Thiem, 25, Austria, 6-3, 6-1 in the semi-finals. Thiem though served 5 Aces in the match to none by Nishikori. But, Nishikori won 5 break points to just 1 by Thiem. Nishikori won 5 games in a row to 3 by Thiem.

Anderson entered the semi-finals after his opponent and World No 13 Borna Coric, 21, Croatia, retired in the second set due to injury. Anderson had won the first set 7-6 and was trailing 1-2 in the second set when Coric retired.

World No 71 Mikhail Kukushkin, 30, Kazakhstan, also entered the SF on October 26, 2018, beating World No 40 Marton Fucsovics, 26, Hungary,  4-6, 7-6, 7-6 in the quarter-finals. Fucsovics though fired 8 Aces in the match to 2 by Kukushkin. Fucsovics committed 3 double faults too. Fuscsovics won 2 break points to 1 by Kukushkin. Kukushkin will play Nishikori in the semi-finals on October 27, 2018.
