Muzaffarpur : The transgenders will have a seat reserved for them in every bus run by Bihar state road transport corporation (BSRTC) in the state like woman and differently abled person. Bihar has thus become the first state to give this benefit to transgenders in the country. The general manager of BSRTC has directed all its divisional managers in the state to reserve a seat for transgender from this month as per direction of the Supreme court.
According to report, the transgenders travelling by the bus will pay the fare of the bus like other
passengers without any concession . It may be recalled the legislators and accredited journalist were getting seat
reservation in the buses earlier but the corporation stopped this facility. According to census report, there are 20,000 transgenders in Bihar .
