Ara : With the arrest of 10 miscreants including arms smugglers, police claim to have cracked three cases of murder at three different places in Bhojpur district and also claimed to have busted a gang of inter- district arms smugglers. Police seized 11 pistols of 7.65mm caliber, two half-finished pistols of 7.65mm caliber, four countrymade pistols, one double barrel gun, 10 magazines, 349 live cartridges of 7.65mm caliber, 5 live cartridges of .315mm caliber, two Apache motorcycles and Rs 15,000 cash from their possession.
The arrested miscreants and arms smugglers were identified as Ajay Kumar alias Raja, son of Lalit Kumar Singh of Anaith under Nawada police station, Ara, Avinash Kumar Pandey, son Bharat Pandey of Paharpur under Bihia police station, Deepak Kushwaha alias K D Kushwaha, son of Hare Ram Kushwaha of Anaith, Chandan Kumar, son of Manoj Singh of Jitwahadih under Navanagar police station in Buxar, Ravi Ranjan Kumar Pandey, son of Umashankar Pandey of Vishambharpur under Imadpur police station, Anu Devi, wife of Raj Kumar Singh alias Raj Kapoor,of Kamaria under Azimabad police station, Guddu Mahto, son of Ram Ishwar Mahto of Sahangi under Gadhani police station, Ram Ishwar Mahto, son of Kishun Mahto of Sahangi, Kanchan Devi, wife of Guddu Mahto of Sahangi,and Sujit Giri, son of late Raj Nath Giri, of Asudhan Mathia under Ayar police station in Bhojpur district.
Bhojpur SP Awakash Kumar on September 1, 2018, said that Ajay Kumar alias Raja, who was arrested from Anaith locality, confessed that Md Nayeem of Dharahara had given him arms and on his direction, he along with Avinash Kumar Pandey, Md Sajjad, Deepak Kushwaha and Chhote Pandey had killed two persons at Ara railway station and took shelter at the house of Avinash Kumar Pandey at Paharpur under Bihia police station. Ajay also admitted that he along with Ravi Ranjan Kumar, Chandan Kumar, Avinash Kumar Pandey, Pritam alias Mugal Sah had killed Ravi Ranjan Gupta and injured his brother on Godhana road. He said that after the identification of one of his associates Sujit Kushwaha, he with the help of Deepak Kushwaha, Chandan Kumar, Ravi Ranjan Kumar and Prem Kumar had killed a CSP manager at Jagdishpur and snatched Rs 2.7 lakh from him.
The SP stated that during interrogation, Ajay alias Raja had revealed that police may seize cache of arms and ammunition in large quantity used in these incidents if conduct raid and arrest Deepak Kushwaha, Chandan Kumar, Ravi Ranjan Kumar, Avinash, Sajjad, Sujit and others and added that cache of arms and live cartridges could be seized from the houses of arms smuggers Guddu Mahto of Gadhani and Raj Kumar Singh at Kamaria under Azimabad police station.
The SP said that on Ajay’s revelation, police conducted raids and arrested 10 miscreants including two women from different places in Bhojpur district and also seized cache of arms and ammunition. The SP stated that Guddu Mahto has criminal background and had been jailed earlier while Avinash Pandey was wanted in a murder case.
