Ara: Bhojpur police, on a tip off, conducted raid in  Moti Tola locality under Town police station, Ara, late Thursday evening busted a gambling centre and also arrested 13 gamblers along with 11 mobiles, 13 lottery tickets, two  calculators, a guessing board, a register and Rs 2,300 cash.

Bhojpur SP Kshatranil Singh said that he was tipped off that a guessing (gambling) centre was being run in Moti Tola locality. He immediately formed a team under the ASP (operations) Md. Sajid that raided the area and busted the guessing centre.  The arrested gamblers were identified as Saroj Kumar of Mahua police station area in Vaishali district, Rohit Kumar and Shyam Babu of Shivganj locality under Town police station,Ara,  Bhola Kumar of Birampur under Koelwar police station, Bablu Kumar of Randiha village, Akhilesh Kumar of Kahen village, Durga Prasad of Moti Tola, Chandan Kumar of Shital Tola, Jitendra Kumar of Prakashpuri, Rohit Kumar of Anand Nagar and Prem Kumar and Shridhar of Rauja locality, all under Town police station.

The SP said that guessing business was going on at Ara with impunity. Whenever a raid is conducted, the centre   closes but after sometime, the gamblers start the business afresh. The SP said earlier the police had raided Rauja locality under Town police station on May 16, 2016, and arrested 22 persons. Police had  also also arrested 12 persons in a raid in East Nawada locality under Nawada police station on May 31 and this was the third raid. The SP said the police would continue their raid and would completely uproot the illegal business.
