Ara : Asif Iqbal of village Daroga Chakia village under Ara Muffassil police station in Bhojpur district , outraged the modesty of a girl, a neighbour, for about four years with a promise to marry her and also looted her jewellery and Rs 2.5 lakh cash and when she pressurised him for marriage, he flatly refused.
A named FIR was lodged with Woman Police Station against Asif Iqbal on August 1, 2018, and police brought the girl over to Sadar Hospital, Ara, for medical examination. The SHO said that the police are investigating the matter and will produce the girl before the court to get her statement recorded under section 164 CrPC.
The survivor, also a resident of village Daroga Chakia, told this Reporter that her parents had died in 2013 leaving her all alone. Taking advantage of the situation, her neighbour Asif Iqbal entered her house calling her his sister and with a promise to look after her like a parents and elder brother and also arrange her marriage with fanfare. As she had no one to look after her, she believed him. Asif Iqbal maligned this pious relation and outraged her modesty with a promise to marry her in 2014 and had been repeating the act almost daily. She alleged said that Asif Iqbal also took jewellery and Rs 2.5 lakh cash which her parents had kept for her marriage.
