Ara: Bhojpur DM Birendra Prasad Yadav on Wednesday said stern action would be taken against those found guilty of dereliction of duty in Mid Day Meal (MDM) Scheme at a meeting with the District Programme Officer, MDM, and Block resource persons (BRPs) of all the 14 blocks of the district. He asked the officials concerned to stick to the menu of the MDM and any deviation from it would be taken seriously otherwise and the persons responsible will be taken to task.

The DM directed the District Manager (DM) State Food Corporation to ensure availability of cereals at the schools. He also asked the Headmasters to maintain a clean atmosphere at schools failing which action would be taken against them. He held the Headmasters responsible for closure of schools in the absence of the cooks. He ordered the officers concerned tomonitor the MDM in every school and also ensure use of LPG in schools.

The DM took serious note of supervision of only 568 of 1,906 schools and cut 10 % of honorarium of BRP of Piro, Tarari, Charpokhari and Garhani who had supervised less than 20 schools. He said that the BRP will ensure cooking in neat and clean atmosphere and serving of MDM to students daily. He directed the BPRs  to take photographs of the schools during inspection and send them to the DPO, MDM, on his whatsApp.

Sulatan Ahmad, DPO, MDM, said that the MDM is closed in 126 schools for want of grains, in 25 schools for non- availability of fund and in 28 schools for other reasons. At this, the DM directed the District Manager, SFC, to solve the problem at the earliest.
