Ara : A seminar on “Malnutrition, rising population and family planning—-Problem and Solution” was organized jointly by Disha Ek Prayas, Sarvahara Seva Sansthan, and Antyodaya Chetana Mandal to mark the world population day on July 11, 2018.

Civil Surgeon (CS), Bhojpur, Dr Satish Kumar Sinha and Director, Vidyasagar Samajik Sodh Sansthan, Pramod Kumar Singh jointly inaugurated the function while Sheela Pandey, Headmistress, S B Girls High School, presided over the meeting, and Chairman, Child Welfare Committee, Sunita Singh, introduced the subject.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Satish Kumar Sinha said that the root cause of almost all problems in country is rising population and stressed on the need of population control. He said that malnutrition is related with population rise and added that government have launched a number of welfare schemes for the welfare of citizens. He also stressed need on sex education at even school level to teach students about physical, genital, psychological changes during adolescent period, and sexually transmitted diseases (STD) which would will ultimately help in population control. He also emphasised on checking  early or child marriage and at least 5 years gap between two children.

Labour Superintendent, Rakesh Ranjan, said that India is second in the world after China so far as population density is concerned. The Government has been trying to motivate people to adopt different means for family planning. Alok Ranjan, Assistant Director, Social Security, Shamshad Prem, Sheela Pandey, Asha Devi, Saraswati Paswan also spoke on the occasion.
