Ara : The Bharat Bandh call given by several organisations including the Left parties, Jan Adhikar Party, and Congress, against CAA, NRC, NPR evoked mixed response in Bhojpur District on January 29, 2020. Bhojpur district administration had made elaborate security arrangement in view of the bandh and deployed police force at Ara railway station. Almost all the schools, colleges and business establishments remained closed while attendance in government offices and court was thin.
The passengers were a harried lot as they had to face a lot of problems in commuting from one place to another. Long route buses remained stranded at bus stand. The bandh supporters took out processions from different places that passed through main thoroughfares of Ara town, the headquarters of Bhojpur District, and forced the shopkeepers and traders to down their shutters.
The activists of Jan Adhikar Party also blocked road near Dharahara bridge on Ara-Patna main road while activists of the CPI(ML) blocked road near eastern railway crossing on Ara-Patna main road, Gola road, Patel Bus Stand, and Sheesh Mahal Chowk raising slogans against the Central Government and PM Narendra Modi. Almost all vehicles were off the road though a few were seen plying on the road at their own risk.
Speaking on the occasion, CPI(ML) from Tarari, Sudama Prasad, lashed out at PM Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah saying both are trying to introduce the RSS agenda in the country.constitution. He alleged that the Modi government intends to divide the peace loving people on caste, creed, and religious line disturbing the communal harmony in the country for political gain and also to divert people’s attention from the failure of the government on different fronts.
