Tirupati Sugars Ltd., Bagaha, to start sugarcane crushing season from Nov. 4

Bagaha : Tirupati Sugars Ltd, Bagaha, will start its sugarcane crushing season 2018-2019 from November 4, 2018. It will be the first sugar industry in Bihar to start new crushing season this year, said Managing Director (MD), Tirupati Sugars Ltd, Dipak Yadav on November 3.

Yadav said that the factory had purchased sugarcane worth Rs 327 crore from the cane growers last year of which Rs 320 crore had already been paid into the account of sugarcane growers and rest will be paid in current month. He said that the factory has advanced its cane crushing season by fortnight compared to last year due surplus cane production in the area this year. The factory had crushed about 1.14 crore quintals of sugarcane last year and this year 1.30 crore quintals of sugarcane are standing in the field.

MD Yadav said that keeping in mind the welfare of the farmers and surplus sugarcane standing in field, the factory has to start crushing earlier to facilitate farmers sow wheat seeds after harvesting sugarcane crop.

Replying to a query, MD Yadav said that the centre or state government were hardly concerned about the problems facing the sugar factory as well as the farmers even as the price of sugar is falling in the marker. If the the government does not give incentives to sugar factories, it will be difficult for them to carry on. The factory will not be able to make timely payment to the farmers for the sugarcane purchased from them, he said. MD Yadav urged to farmers to undertake soil test of their field and sow early variety sugarcane, which will benefit them as well as the factory.
