Ara : Under the banner of All India Bank Employees Association, all the government and private banks remained virtually  closed here on October 22, 2019, in protest against the Union Government’s move to merge banks and anti-people policy of the government. Customers were a harried lot as they had to return home as the bank employees remained absent from duty.

The bank employees took out a procession under the leadership of Vice-President BPBEA, Bhojpur unit, Bijay Shankar Pathak, Deputy General secretary, Punjab National Bank Employees Association, Bihar, Anand Kumar Singh, and member Bank Employees Federation Ritesh Kumar, that passed through the main thoroughfares of Ara town and culminated in front of the Regional Office of the PNB, Ara branch, where they raised slogans against the Union government.

Speaking on the occasion Anand Kumar Singh said that decision of government to merge banks will create unemployment problems. He said that the government wants to help private sectors and demanded of the government to withdraw the decision of merger of banks in the larger interest of employees, country and youth.
