Bagaha : A large number of sugarcane farmers led by Chhote  Srivastava staged demonstration before the office of SDM, Bagaha, in West Champaran district under the aegis of Sugarcane Farmers Union of Bagaha on August 28, 2017. They were demanding adequate compensation for their crops damaged in devastating flood.

The Sugarcane growers also submitted a memorandum, addressed to the Bihar chief minister, to   the SDM, informing him that all the their standing crops including sugarcane, their only cash crop, have been destroyed in the flood. They also said that they had taken loans from different banks for sugarcane plantation but were now facing starvation like situation as the grains kept at their houses were destroyed in the flood. They demanded farm loan waivers.
