Patna : Electing to bat after winning the toss, Australia were 245/6 after 45 overs in the 3rd ODI against India at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, with Steven Smith unbeaten on 106, his 9th ODI ton and first in India,  and Ashton Agar batting on 2.

Australia lost both their openers : David Warner and Aaron Finch (captain), with only 46 runs on board. Warner fell to Mohammad Shami  for 3 making it 18/1 while Finch was run out for 19 making it 46/2. Smith and Marnus Labuschagne then added 127 runs for the 3rd wicket.

Labuschagne fell to spinner Ravindra Jadeja for 54 in 64 balls with 5 fours and it was 173/3. Mitchell Starc too fell to Jadeja for a duck making it 173/4. Smith and Alex Carey (wk) added 58 runs for the 5th wicket. Carey fell to spinner Kuldeep Yadav for 35 in 36 balls with 6 fours making it 231/5. Ashton Turner fell to fast bowler Navdeep Saini for 4 making it 238/6.
