Motihari :  Police arrested Ranjan Sahni , an army soldier posted at Jalandhar,  from village Arara under Adapur police station in East Chamaparan  on Friday evening  for allegedly threatening a Judicial magistrate  Nishant Kumar Priyadarshi  on June 9  and recovered 6 cell phones, 8  pan cards and SIMs  from his possession.  He was quizzed by police and then  sent to judicial custody.

East Champaran SP Jitendra Rana said that  on June 9 Raxaul sub-divisional judicial magistrate Priyadarshi  was
threatened on mobile phone  by an extortionist who asked him to pay Rs 25 lakh failing which he would be eliminated. Priydarshi had received the call at his court chamber. Police registered a case  in this regard and examined the call details of the caller and apprehended him.

Ranjan Sahni,  a native of village Arara,was arrested  from his home and he confessed his crime. Ranjan, in his
statement to police, said that he had  nursed  a serious grievance against a Judicial officer N K Yadav of Motihari civil court. He procured the cel phone number of the said Judicial officer from an advocate clerk  Parmanand Ram who inadvertently supplied the phone number of another Judicial magistrate of Raxaul sub-division. Ranjan made the call to him by mistake.  The police is looking for advocate clerk  Parmanand Ram in this case.
