Ara residents protest police highhandedness

Ara : Hundreds of residents of Ara including women and children blocked Ara-Patna main road near Patel Bus Stand under Town police station on August 18, 2017,  for about three hours to protest alleged highhandedness of police personnel in the enforcing prohibition. The protesters burnt tyres and paralysed the movement of vehicles on the road raising slogans against police and CM Nitish Kumar. Later, the blockade was lifted after positive assurance from police officials.

Police had arrested and brought over to Town Police station the father of a liquor smuggler from Shivganj locality on August 18 triggering strong protest from the residents of the area to demand his release. They alleged  that police were hand in glove with the liquor smugglers and harassing the innocent people.
