Ara : Ara residents are virtually spending sleeplessnights due to frequent power. The worst sufferers are students who are unable to study during evening hours due to power cut. The government has stopped supply of Kerosene oil through the Public Distribution System (PDS) since May 2017.

Though CM Nitish Kumar claims 24×7 hours power supply at Ara, headquarters of Bhojpur district,  the South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (SBPDCL) is hardly concerned about it. The electric supply is stopped anytime during day and night on different excuses. That apart, Ara residents are also facing problem of low voltage and fluctuation damaging electric home appliance but the officials of the SBPDCL are doing nothing to rectify the problem.

Executive Engineer, SBPDCL, Sanjay Kumar Borio, said he is quite concerned with the problems of the people and all the problems will be solved within two to three months as work is going on the project. He said overloaded transformers are being replaced with higher capacity 317 kva ones and covered insulated electric wires are being laid and capacity of grids is also being increased, he added.
