Ara: Under the banner of Bihar State Auto Rickshaw Tempo Driver Association (BSATA), the auto drivers observed a day long strike and kept their vehicles off the road on Monday in protest against alleged realization of three times more Chungi from them illegally by the agents of Ara Municipal Corporation (AMC). They took out a procession that passed through the main thoroughfares of the town and culminated in front of the office of Bhojpur District Magistrate where they staged demonstration and raised slogans against the district administration and AMC.

Gopal Prasad, Bhojpur district president, BSATA, said that the AMC had fixed chungi Rs 10 from each tempo but the agents were realising Rs 30 from them for the last several months and the association was on war path since then but no one pay any heed to them. Police never checked this illegal act. He no representative said that they were sitting on dharana at the gate of the office of the DM but no representative of the district administration has come to speak to them. He said if their grievances were not heard and an amicable solution was not found, they would be compelled to launch intensify their agitation.
