Sasaram: Hundreds of residents of urban and rural area under Bikramganj sub-division in Rohtas district led by former MLA Rajeshwar Raj locked Bikramganj Sub-Division office on Monday in protest against erratic power supply in urban and rural areas for the last two months and also non- availability of water for irrigation through canal till tail end.

Former MLA Rajeshwar Raj said that he had written to the Chief Minister 10 days ago demanding regular power supply and water for irrigation till tail end of the canals but to no avail so far hence he was left with no option than to resort to agitation. He said that paddy non-availability of water for irrigation was affecting farming and people in urban and rural areas were spending restless days and nights in summer.

On the other hand, the Junior Engineer, South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (SBPDCL) Ravi Shankar said that power would not be available from 10 am to 12 am till July 7 as Nagar panchayat is installing street lights on electric poles.
