Bagaha: All India Progressive Women’s Association (AIPWA) led by its State Secretary Nikhil Gupta,  State Executive Committee Member Sohila Gupta and District President, West Champaran, Lalita Devi staged a rally at Bagaha on July 27, 2018, to protest delay in arrest of some rape accused.

The rally passed through the main thoroughfares of Bagaha town shouting anti – government slogan for not taking action against some students accused of raping a tribal girl student of Harnatand on July 10, 2018. The AIPWAleaders said that the rape accused were moving around freely due to their political connection.

The AIPWA held a meeting here and held Nitish Government responsible for increasing incidents of crime against woment. Many speakers including Bhikhari Prasad, Sohila Gupta, Meera Devi, and Shubhawati Devi said the girl students and women were not feeling safe in the state. The AIPWA leaders also demanded sacking of Social Welfare Minister Manju Verma from the State Cabinet.
