Ara : Satyendra Kumar, an Advocate of Ara Civil Court, was shot dead around 10pm on February 22, 2020, at Sheetal Tola under Ara Town police station in Bhojpur District, by some unidentified armed miscreants. Satyendra Kumar was son of Siddhnath Prasad of Sheetal Tola locality. Old enmity is said to be the cause behind the murder. An FIR has been lodged with  Ara Town police station in this connection and police are conducting raids to arrest the assailants.

Police brought the body over to Ara Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. SHO, Ara Town police station, said that at least half a dozen armed miscreants came and pumped bullets into the body of Advocate Satyendra Kumar alias Tiwari Ji from point blank range around 10pm on February 22, 2020, and escaped. The locals rushed him to a private clinic at Babu Bazaar but the doctor declared him brought dead.

The SHO said that the advocate had dispute with some persons in connection with whitewashing of a temple located beside his home and over a shop. He had given an application to Town police station on February 21, 2020, in this regard but the miscreants shot him dead by the time police initiated action on his application.

Secretary, Ara Bar Association, Vidya Niwas Singh, has strongly condemned the murder of Satyendra Kumar and warned of an aggressive agitation if the miscreants were not arrested within 24 hours.

Bhojpur SP Sushil Kumar said that police are investigating into the incident and assured that they would arrest the miscreants within 48 hours.
