Shopkeeper shot dead at Narayanpur Bazaar in Bhojpur

Ara : Anuj Paswan, a shopkeeper and  son of Shiv Paswan of Narayanpur Bazaar, was shot dead by some armed miscreants s at Narayanpur Bazaar under Narayanpur police station in Bhojpur district on February 22, 2020, late evening. Anuj, a former Ward member, ran an egg shop at Narayanpur Bazaar. The reason behind his murder is still to be ascertained.

As the news of his murder spread, the villagers got agitated and blocked Ara-Arwal main road raising slogans against the district administration. They also pelted cops with stones in which five police personnel including SHO, Narayanpur police station, were injured. The protesters also damaged jeeps of Narayanpur and Sahar police stations. Later, fresh reinforcement was rushed to the spot on the direction of Bhojpur SP and the situation was brought under control. Police brought the body over to Ara Sadar Hospital around midnight for post-mortem.

The entire area has been cordoned off. as tension prevails in and around the area following the incident though police claimed that the situation was well under control.

SHO, Narayanpur police station, Nikunj Bhushan, said that a youth of the village had taken a packet of egg from Anuj Paswan’s shop three days ago on credit when he was not at his shop. On his return, Anuj came to know about it and complained to his father about it that allegedly infuriated the youth At last, Anuj Paswan was shot dead, the SHO said..
