Patna : Second seed Alexander Zverev, 22, Germany, and 4th seed Felix Auger-Aliasime, 19, Canada, crashed out f the Mexican Open, an ATP World Tour 500 outdoor hard courts event at Acapulco, Mexico, on February 27, 2020, suffering shock defeats in their second round matches.

World No 66 Tommy Paul, 22, USA, upset World No 7 Alexander Zverev 6-3, 6-4 in 1 hr 28 minutes in second round winning 2 break points and 3 games in a row to enter the quarter-finals of the tournament. Paul, in all, won 68 points to 60 by the German. Paul won 47 service points to 38 by Zverev, who committed 10 double faults in the match. The American fired 5 Aces in the match to 3 by the German. Paul will face 5th seed John Isner, 34, USA, in QFs on February 28, 2020.

World No 44 Kyle Edmund, 25, UK, beat World No 19 Felix Auger-Aliassime, Canada, 6-4, 6-4 in second round winning 2 break points and 3 games in a row to enter the QFs. Aliassime though fired 13 Aces in the match to just 1 by Edmund. But, the Canadian also committed 6 double faults to 3 by the Brit. Edmund, in all, won 72 points to 59 by the Canadian. Edmund will face World No 35 Taylor Fritz, 22, USA, in QFs.
