Aurangabad/Patna: Budding journalist Nikhil Kumar (26), who wrote for a leading English daily from Aurangabad, passed away at a hospital in BHU, Varanasi, on December 12 night. His family members including his father were present when he breathed his last in the ICU.
According to his family members, Nikhil was not keeping well for past few days. He was first taken to a hospital in Aurangabad from where his family members decided to take him to Varanasi for treatment.
Nikhil was also associated with a Hindi daily earlier. A Post-graduate in English from Magadh University, Nikhil also did MBA from the same university and then completed his journalism course from Nalanda Open University. He leaves behind his father, mother, two younger sisters and other family members.
As the news of his death reached Aurangabad, a large number of his well-wishers including Aurangabad DM Kawal Tanuj and SP Satyaprakash, accompanied by other district officers reached his native village Baliya under Amba block in Aurangabad. RLSP leader and Union minister Upendra Kushwaha also rushed to his native village from Sasaram. His last rite was performed at his native village, about 25 km from district headquarters.
Nikhil was appreciated by one and all for his nature. “We have never seen such a huge crowd at the funeral procession of a local boy,” said a wailing villager. Later, a condolence meeting was organized by local journalists to mourn Nikhil.
