Gopalganj: Separate Gopalganj police teams on December 14  attached the property of the accused of Khajurbanni liquor tragedy. The police teams attached property at Khajurbanni and Uchakagaon (Gopalganj) and village Jalalpur under Jamo police station in Siwan district.

Town police station SHO Baleshwar Rai said that the property of Rupesh Shukla alias Pandit ji in Siwan, Manna Devi and Jamal Mian (Gopalganj) was attached by police. He said that police also attached the property of Kundan Sah at village Pokhabhinda under Uchakagaon police station in Gopalganj. A police team led by havildar Umesh Singh attached the property at Kundan Sah’s house.

It may be mentioned here that on December 13, the investigating officer (IO) of the case had procured the orders for property attachment from the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), Go.palganj.

Altogether 21 persons had lost their lives while several others were taken ill after consuming liquor at Khajurbanni in Gopalganj district on August 15-16 this year. Two separate FIRs were lodged with the Town police station in this connection and police  later  recovered huge quantity of liquor during raids there. Sadar Inspector Nigam Kumar Verma had lodged an FIR while another FIR was lodged by the then Town ps SHO B P Alok. Fourteen persons were later arrested and sent to jail in this connection. None of the accused were given bail in the case. Raids are on in Siwan, Uttar Pradesh, Muzaffarpur and Motihari to arrest the other accused, who have fled away after the incident.
