Muzaffarpur: The CBI has sought more time from the Supreme Court to complete its probe into Navruna kidnapping  case.

CBI Inspector Raunak Kumar on November 11 informed Muzaffarpur CBI court that the investigating agency, in an application to the apex court, had sought more time to complete its investigation into Navruna case, according to the lawyer of Navruna’s parents Ranjana Singh. It may be mentioned here that the Supreme Court had earlier directed the CBI to complete its probe into the case by October 31, 2016.

The Supreme court had ordered for CBI probe into the Navruna case as her parents had alleged involvement of some politicians, senior police and land mafia in it. Navruna’s father Atulya Chakravarty is disappointed over tardy pace of CBI investigation into the case. The CBI is yet to identify the suspects in the case. Navruna, a Standard VII student, was kidnapped from her Jawaharlal Road, Muzaffarpur,  residence on September 18, 2012, night by some people after breaking open the window of her room.

When police failed to recover her, Bihar government on September 18, 2013, recommended for CBI probe into the incident. The CBI began its probe into the case on January 17, 2014, by registering a case. The CBI had taken the blood samples of Navruna’s parents for DNA test and also carried out Narco Test of three persons including a police inspector.
