Ara : Additional District and Sessions Judge-I, Ara, on July 26, 2019, sentenced to rigorous life imprisonment Dharmendra Ram for killing Gulab Chand Rai of Pawana Bazaar on March 29, 2015, at Pawana Bazaar under Pawana police station in Bhojpur district. The court also slapped a fine of Rs 50,000 on him.

Special Public Prosecutor, Satyendra Kumar Singh Dara, said that Gulab Chand Rai of Pawana Bazaar under Pawana police station was taking tea at a tea-stall on March 29, 2015, when the accused attacked him from behind and hit him on his head with an iron rod besides stabbing him. The villagers rushed him to  Ara Sadar Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Personal enmity was said to be the reason behind the murder. A named FIR was lodged with Pawana police station against Dharmendra Ram of the same area in connection with the incident.

After hearing both the parties, the court found Dharmendra Ram guilty of murder and awarded rigorous life imprisonment and also slapped a fine of Rs 50,000 on him.
