Buxar : Police, on a tip off, seized 41,184 bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) worth about Rs 61 lakh from a truck on the outskirts of village Rewatiya under Nawanagar police station in Buxar district on July 26, 2019. Police seized the truck and a motorcycle though the liquor smugglers and driver of the truck escaped from the spot.

An FIR has been lodged with Nawanagar police station including the owners of the truck and motorcycle under the Prohibition & Excise Act and relevant sections of the IPC. Police are conducting raids to arrest the liquor smugglers and the owners of the truck and motorcycle.

SHO, Nawanagar police station, Zunaid Alam, said that he got information that a truck loaded with IMFL had reached the outskirts of village Revatiya under Nawanagar police station in the wee hour on July 26. He immediately swung into action and conducted raids on the outskirt of Rewatiay and seized 41,184 bottles of IMFL packed in 858 cartons. Police also seized the truck and a motorcycle parked there. The SHO said that the price of the seized IMFL is estimated to be Rs 61 lakh in the market. He said that the IMFL was brought from Haryana to be sold in Buxar district.
