Ara : Sleuth of Prohibition & Excise Department led by Excise Inspector Durgesh Kumar on April 3, 2019, arrested four lady liquor smugglers along with 312 bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) from New Delhi-Rajgir Shramjeevi Express at Ara railway station under Danapur Division of East Central Railway (ECR), Hajipur.

The arrested lady liquor smugglers were identified as Madhu Devi, wife of Manoj Kumar, Nutan Devi, wife of Dharmndra Bind, Poonam Devi, wife of Pummy Prasad of East Lohanipur under Kadamkua police station, Patna, and Sakshi Devi, wife of Subodh Kumar of Chiraiyatand, Patna,

Excise Inspector Durgesh Kumar said that the team of Prohibition & Excise department was on prowl at Ara railway station in civiies and as the Shramjeevi Express reached the platform No 1, the team conducted raids and arrested four lady liquor smugglers along with IMFL. He said that the liquor smugglers were smuggling the liquor from Dildarnaagar in Uttar Pradesh to Patna.

In another incident, Bhojpur police conducted raids at an under-construction government lavatory in Jawahar Tola locality under Nawada police station, Ara, on April 3, 2019, and seized 150 pouches of countrymade liquor though the liquor smugglers escaped from the scene.

SHO, Nawada police station, Lalan Kumar said that he got information that liquor was being sold in Jawahar Tola locality after which he conducted raids and seized 150 pouches of countrymade liquor.
