Patna : Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) defeated Kings XI Punjab ( KXIP) by 28 runs in the 6th match of the IPL-12 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, on March 27, 2019, late night. Chasing a target of 219, KXIP could score only 190/4 in 20 overs with Mayank Agarwal scoring 58 in 34 balls with 6 fours and a six while David Miller scored an unbeaten 59 in 40 balls with 5 fours and 3 sixes. KXIP required 42 runs in the 20th overs but could score only 13 runs. KXIP had won the toss but opted to bowl.

KXIP openers Lokesh Rahul and Chris Gayle scored 1 and 20 runs respectively. Gayle fell to Andre Russel for 20 in 13 balls with 2 fours and 2 sixes while Rahul fell to fast bowler Lockie Ferguson. Mandeep Singh remained unbeaten on 33 in 15 balls with 4 fours and a six. Miller and Mandeep added 56 runs for the 5th wicket. For KKR, Russel took 2/21 in 3 overs while Lockie Ferguson and spinner Piyush Chawla took one wicket each.

Batting first, KKR had scored 218/4 in 20 overs with Robin Uthappa scoring an unbeaten 67 in 50 balls with 6 fours and 2 sixes and Nitish Rana scoring 63 in 34 balls with 2 fours and 7 sixes. Andre Russel scored 48 in 17 balls with 3 fours and 5 sixes.

Andre Russel was named Player of the Match. KKR had defeated SRH in their first match.
