Police arrest 2 arms smugglers with loaded pistol

Buxar : Police, on a tip off, arrested two persons along with firearm from village Simari under Simari police station in Buxar district on February 26, 2019, late evening, and sent them to jail after interrogation. A named FIR was lodged by Simari police station in this connection. The arrested persons were identified as Ramashrya Rai and his nephew Abhishek Rai.

Buxar SP Upendra Nath Verma said that he had received information about activities of some miscreants at village Simari and had on February 26 evening directed the SHO and other police personnel to launch vehicle checking drive. Two persons were seen coming on a motorcycle but seeing police they tried to escape. But, police chased them and caught them and seized a loaded pistol from their possession, he said.

The SP said that the arrested persons confessed during interrogation that they smuggled the arms from bordering areas. He added that the arrested persons are residents of Dudhipatti village under Simari police station and one of them Ramashrya Rai had been jailed several times for arms and liquor smuggling.
