Ara : Police on February 26, 2019, evening, recovered body of a Panchayat Member, South Ekauna Panchayat, Mani Kumar, son of Pradeep Kumar, from a bush between Chaukipur and Chandawa locality under Nawada police station, Ara, in Bhojpur district.

Mani Kumar was a resident of Chhota Kalyanpur village under Udwantnagar police station and was dealing in for the past 8 years and was allegedly a drug addict. He had returned home from the de-addiction centre, Sadar Hospital, Ara, two days ago. Police brought the body over to Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. The doctors preserved the viscera to send the same to the Forensic Science Laboratory to establish the reason his death.

SHO, Nawada police station, Subodh Kumar said that Mani Kumar had gone out with his friends on February 25, 2019, but he did not return home. In the meantime, some residents of Chandawa locality found a body lying in a bush near river Korwa river and informed policc about it. The SHO said that police immediately rushed to the spot and recovered the body.

Shani Kumar, younger brother of the deceased, said that his brother spent his time mostly with his friends. He had some tiff with his friend Chhotu Kumar over some money and Chhotu Kumar had threatened him with dire consequences, Shani Kumar alleged and added that his friends, under well planned conspiracy, poisoned him to death and threw the body into the bush.
