Ara : Police, on a tip off, conducted raid at village Ganj under Bihia police station in Bhojpur district on September 8, 2018, late evening and seized a Qualis bearing registration of Uttar Pradesh (UP) loaded with 1,154 bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) though the liquor smugglers escaped taking advantage of the darkness. A named FIR was lodged with Bihia police station against the house owner in this connection.
SHO, Bihia police station, Ravindra Kumar said that he got information that a big consignment of liquor had been brought over to village Ganj village after which he immediately swung into action and laid a trap and seized the vehicle when the IMFL was being unloaded at the house of Uma Shankar Paswan of the village.
Two held : In another development, police arrested two liquor smugglers : Gautam Kumar and Raj Kumar Singh, from village Majhaua under Ara Town police station on September 8 night and seized 32 pouches of countrymade liquor and 8 bottles of IMFL from their possession.
SHO, Ara Town police station, said that the liquor smugglers had scuffle with cops when they reached Majhaua village and arrested Gautam Kumar. They tried to free him from police custody. Meanwhile, police force reached there and chased away the villagers and liquor smugglers from the spot and also arrested Raj Kumar.
