Bhojpur twin murder case accused Brajesh Rai arrested in UP

Ara : UP police on May 3, 2018, arrested a notorious criminal Brajesh Rai, who was carrying a reward of Rs 5,000 on his head and wanted in the murder of daily paper hawker and his cousin brother in Bhojpur district in Bihar, from village Jogamusadih under Karimuddinpur police station in Ghazipur district in UP and also seized a countrymade pistol and some live cartridges from his possession.

Bhojpur SP Awakash Kumar said that Brajesh Rai, son of Vishuni Rai of village Ramdatahi  under Karnamepur police outpost, along with his associates had shot dead Yogendra Tatwa, son of Shankar Tatwa of village Ramdatahi, near Karnamepur Bus stand when he was going to distribute daily papers in the morning on January 17, 2018. Bhojpur police were hunting for him but he always managed to give a slip to police.

The SP said that a named FIR was lodged against Brajesh Rai, his brothers Shivsagar Rai and Ritesh Rai, and Sonu Rai, brother-in-law (sadhu) of Shivsagar Rai, on the statement of the deceased Yogendra Tatwa’s wife Meena Devi and an unnamed FIR against Amit Rai, brother-in-law (saala) of Shivsagar Rai languishing in Ghazipur jail.

A dispute over five kattha of ‘gairmazarua’ land at Ramdatahi village was going on for the last 20 years between the families of Brajesh Rai and Shiv Shankar Prasad. The land was located near the house of Shiv Shankar Prasad and Ram Sakal Prasad.

The SP said that earlier Brajesh Rai and his goons had killed Rajendra Tatwa, son of Ram Sakal Tatwa, and cousin brother of Yogendra Tatwa on September 7, 2017. Yogendra Tatwa was an eyewitness in the case. The named accused were putting pressure on Yogendra Tatwa to withdraw the case and when he refused, they allegedly killed him,the SP said.

The SP said that under mounting police pressure, Shivsagar Rai and Sonu Rai surrendered in the Ara court on January 23 and January 24, 2018, respectively while police arrested Ritesh Rai about twenty days ago from Karnamepur Bazaar under Karnamepur police outpost. All the three are lodged in Ara jail but Brajesh Rai was absconding.

The SP said that Brajesh Rai had taken shelter in the house of his brother Shivsagar Rai’s brother-in-law (saala) Amit Rai at Jogamusadih village under Karimuddinpur police station in Ghazipur in UP and was selling fish from a forcibly acquired pond of Amit Rai. The SP added that Amit Rai is himself wanted in over 50 criminal cases of murder and rangdari and lodged in Ghazipur jail since April 19, 2018. Bhojpur police made him an unnamed accused in the murder of the newspaper hawker.

The SP said Incharge, Karnamepur police outpost, Kumar Ravindra has been sent to Ghazipur with production warrant issued from the Ara court to bring Brajesh Rai and Amit Rai to Ara. He hoped that both the miscreants would be brought over Ara by May 4, 2018,  evening. The SP said that after his arrest, Brajesh Rai tried to misguide the Ghazipur police.  The SP said that police will interrogate Brajesh Rai and Amit Rai once they reach Ara to know reason behind the twin murders.
