India beat Zimbabwe by 10 wickets in ICC Under-19 World Cup

Patna : India Under-19 team on January 19, 2018, defeated Zimbabwe by 10 wickets at Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui, New Zealand, in the ICC U-19 World Cup completing their Group B domination. Three-time champions, India, who had already sealed a quarterfinal spot with back-to-back wins against Australia and Papua New Guinea in Group B, produced another clinical performance to end the league stage unbeaten.

Zimbabwe batsmen failed to handle left-arm spinners Anukul Roy (4/20) and Abhishek Sharma (2/22) and folded up for 154 in 48.1 overs. Shivam Mavi took 1/30 while Arshdeep Singh took 2/10 and Riyan Parag 1/7.

Zimbabwe were 110 for three at one stage but lost their last seven wickets for 44 runs. Milton Shumba was the top scorer for Zimbabwe making 36 in 59 balls hitting a six while Captain Liam Roche made 31 in 45 balls hitting a four and a six. Opener Wesley Madhevere made 30 in 54 balls hitting 3 fours.

India chased down the small target of 155 comfortably in just 21.4 overs as wicketkeeper Harvik Desai made an unbeaten 56 in 73 balls and Shubman Gill 90 not out in 59 balls to take the team home. Gill hit 14 fours and a six in his 90 not out while Harvik Desai hit 8 fours and a six in his unbeaten 56. Shubham Gill was declared Man of the Match.
