Few patients turning up at Munger de-addiction centre

Munger: Mantoo Sharma, a RJD leader of Munger district has, in a statement, requested Bihar Health minister Tej Pratap Yadav to wind up the de- addiction centre opened at Munger sadar hospital  as only half- a- dozen persons have been admitted to this centre since May to the end of this month. Moreover, most of the patients were referred to Bhagalpur and other places for treatment making the centre useless for de- addiction patients. Sharma said that more than Rs seven lakh was being spent on the maintenance of this centre per month but patients were not going there for treatment. Sharma alleged that the centre has become a restroom for the staff of the hospital and a gossip room for few medical officers. He said that the money allotted to the centre should be used for purchasing life saving drugs for the hospital.
