Two teenage girls drown to death in ditch in Saharsa

Saharsa : Two teenage girls: Bulbul Kumari, 18, and Seema Kumari, 19, of village Shahpur under Sonbersa Raj police station in Saharsa district drowned to death after slipping into a water filled ditch on the eastern side of the village on August 20, 2017. But, the villagers rescued the third girl Lalita Kumari, 17, who was admitted to the Primary Health Centre (PHC).

All the three girls were returning to their village after collecting grass for their cattle. Circle Officer Ram Avatar Yadav and police soon reached the village to inquire into the incident. The ditch was overflowing due to the flood. Sixtynine panchayats under seven blocks in Saharsa district are affected by the flood in river Kosi.
