Muzaffarpur : Of the three children admitted to Sri Krishna Medical College Hospital (SKMCH), Muzaffarpur, following change in climate, one has been confirmed as a Japanese Encephalitis (JE) patient. Muzaffarpur DM Dharmendra Singh has taken the matter seriously and a children intensive care unit has been opened at SKMCH. Suhani, daughter of Ramji Baitha of Riga, Sitamarhi, is suffering from JE and is under treatment at SKMCH.

Superintendent, SKMCH, Dr G K Thakur, said the hospital is well equipped to handle JE cases and duty is being  assigned to the doctors and para-medical staff. According to the DM, all the doctors had been directed to remain alert and be on duty. The doctors are also being trained to handle such cases, DM Singh said.
